Twitter reacts to Canelo Alvarez winning boring trilogy bout with Gennadiy Golovkin

Everyone in the boxing community seemed to have the same feeling: Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennadiy Golovkin 3 was a huge, lacklusting, disappointment of a bout and the judges’ scores were awful

There was no question this time who won the fight between Canelo Alvarez and Gennadiy Golovkin — but it was also the most one-sided and easily the most boring and disappointing.

Alvarez earned an easy unanimous decision over GGG to retain his undisputed super middleweight championship.

The opening round between the two was fairly quiet, though Alvarez showed a sense of production by working the jab. And that proved to be the story for the first half of the fight. Alvarez focused on jabs and straights to the head for six rounds, leading the dance. Golovkin, meanwhile, seemed unable to do anything to answer back.

Golovkin attempted to stand and trade with Alvarez in the pocket in round seven, but Alvarez moved around the ring and started to work over Golovkin’s body.

Golovkin finally started to back Alvarez up in the ninth round, but it was too late and Alvarez answered right back.
