“He’s So Slow”: Canelo Alvarez’s Combos in Recent POV Training Clip Fails to Impress Fans

A new video of Canelo Alvarez trying a particular combination seems to be fast-graining traction. talkSPORT‘s Michael Benson shared the clip on his X. The undisputed super middleweight champion is preparing hard for his upcoming title defense against fellow Mexican Jaime Munguia. But how do the fans feel about the training clip? Die-hard fans must be feeling excited. However, among those who commented, there were a few who didn’t feel likewise.

The Alvarez-Munguia match takes place on May 4, the Cinco de Mayo weekend, at the T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The P4P great last fought and defeated Jermell Charlo during his third title defense. The Tijuana-born former light middleweight champion, on the other hand, forced an early stoppage on John Ryder later in January this year.

Michael Benson’s tweet read, “Canelo Alvarez showing a first-person POV of what Jaime Munguia will be facing on May 4th…” The clip begins with the world champion throwing a jab with the leading hand. It is followed by an uppercut (right) on a mitt held by a trainer. From the looks of it, it appears that the same person is also holding a punching bag tightly. So basically, Alvarez is working on two props simultaneously. The third punch is Alvarez’s now-well-known left hook to the body, here it being thrown on the punching bag. Then a straight right to the mitt and finally a second left hook complete the combination.

Given their profiles, few expect the fight to go the whole distance. It could be a high-octane slugfest, with both boxers relying on trademark hits to stop the opponent.
