Canelo vs GGG 3 card finalized: Marc Castro, Aaron Aponte & Anthony Herrera in action on Sep 17 in Las Vegas

Undisputed 168-pound champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and unified WBA and IBF middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin square off in a highly anticipated trilogy fight headlining a lineup of action live stream on DAZN from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, September 17. A trio of bouts, featuring Marc Castro, Aaron Aponte and Anthony Herrera, has been announced today finalizing the card.

Marc Castro (7-0 5 KOs) appears on his fifth Canelo undercard since making his debut in December 2020. The former amateur standout meets Kevin Montiel Mendoza in his first bout over eight rounds. Castro steps through the ropes for the third time this year with a pair of points wins over six rounds already in the bag and will be tested by Mexican Mendoza (6-1-2 3 KOs) whose resume includes a split-draw with Otha Jones III.

Aaron Aponte (6-0 2 KOs) is also lacing them up for the third time in 2022. ‘The Alien King’ is ready to mix it up against Canelo Promotions’ unbeaten prospect Fernando Molina. Aponte, who penned a promotional deal with Eddie Hearn in January, is looking to add a seventh win in the paid ranks in his first eight round round clash with Molina (8-0 3 KOs), the 20 year old Mexican who also has a pair of wins over six this year.

Kamaru Usman might have a welterweight title defense against Leon Edwards on tap at UFC 278 on Aug. 20, but he’s already looking ahead to a fresh challenge.

Usman told TMZ Sports in an interview published on Tuesday he wants a date with boxing star Canelo Alvarez at some point.

“It’s never been done, pound-for-pound versus pound-for-pound,” he said. “And, they’re significantly close in weight classes to be able to do it — why not?! … When you hear that that fight’s announced, everyone’s going to be watching that fight.”

Usman first told TMZ Sports in March he was hopeful of fighting Alvarez in the fall. He thought the event could net revenues of nine figures.

Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin are ready to complete their incredible trilogy later this year as Las Vegas hosts the huge title fight.

The great foes battled out two thrilling clashes in 2017 and 2018 with the first being ruled a draw before Canelo took the second.

Their rivalry has been one of the best in modern day boxing but fans have had to wait for a third and final clash.

Now, they will go toe-to-toe once again under the lights in Sin City and it should be thriller.

Canelo, who lost to Dmitry Bivol in his WBA light heavyweight title bout in May, will put his super middleweight titles on the line.

Golovkin has only fought four times since his defeat to the Mexican and beat Ryota Murata in Japan most recently.

The 12-round super middleweight title clash is set to be held on Saturday, September 17.

It is taking place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The card will get going at 1am on Sunday morning UK time with Canelo vs Golovkin expected from 5am.
