Former boxing champion who fought Canelo Alvarez continues dominant run in new sport

Canelo Alvarez went to war with a man who’d go on to dominate the sport of BKFC.

In his esteemed career, the Mexican has fought an array of gifted competitors with very few giving him problems.

Usually, fighters fade into irrelevance after being beaten by the face of boxing. For example, Billy Joe Saunders hasn’t been seen since Canelo broke his orbital bone.

However, one superstar didn’t just continue to compete at a high level after losing to the icon, but actually managed to excel to greater heights.

Austin Trout has gone from fighting Canelo Alvarez to becoming a BKFC world champion

On April 20, 2013, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, USA, Canelo Alvarez challenged Austin Trout for the WBA (regular) super welterweight title.

The American started beautifully, utilizing his slick skills and boxing IQ to give the challenger all he could handle.

However, while Trout found the target with ease early, as the rounds passed by, the younger fighter began to adapt, eventu

Jake Paul rips ‘money-hungry squirrel’ Canelo Alvarez for Riyadh Season deal: ‘We had a signed contract’

The Canelo Alvarez and Jake Paul saga continues to heat up.

Alvarez and Paul were reportedly in the late stages of planning a boxing fight to take place May 3 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. However, Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority chairman Turki Alalshikh got a hold of Alvarez, landing a four-fight deal with the boxing superstar.

The late shift sparked backlash from Paul and his Most Valuable Promotions team, claiming Alvarez ducked the fight. Paul labeled him an “owned slave.”

Alvarez sent a video message to his fans, telling them to ignore Paul.

“Hey guys, don’t pay attention at anything from this f*cking Youtuber,” Alvarez said in a video posted to social media by Ring Magazine. “I just fight real fighters. No f*cking around with Canelo. Come on, let’s go.”

Moments after, Paul posted a video reply of his own, addressing the entire situation surrounding the proposed fight while ripping Alvarez’s business decisions and questioning his loyalty. In the video, Paul inclu

Turki Alalshikh belittles Jake Paul after Canelo Alvarez fight fell apart, pitches ‘Belt of YouTube’ fight

Saudi Arabian chairman Turki Alalshikh mocked Jake Paul after signing Canelo Alvarez to a four-fight deal and nixing their blockbuster fight.

Jake Paul vs. Canelo Alvarez seemed like an inevitability after reports on Thursday pointed to a blockbuster fight being finalized for a May 3rd clash. But as the Paul vs. Alvarez negotiations neared a close, Alvarez withdrew from the talks and agreed to a four-fight deal with Riyadh Season which includes a mega fight with Terence Crawford.

It was a stunning conclusion to what was expected to be one of the biggest blockbuster fights of 2025. After Alvarez withdrew from negotiations, Paul blasted Alvarez in a lengthy social media post.

Four years after manifesting a fight with Alvarez, Paul fell just short of making his dream matchup come to fruition. After Alvarez agreed to a new deal with Riyadh Season, that secured him through late 2026, the bout is now firmly out of the picture for both boxers.

Everyone involved in the negotiations, including Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions, has issued statements on what went wrong on the final stretch of the fight talks. Turki Alalshikh basked in Paul’s failed fight and sarcastically proposed a timeline for Paul to pursue Alvarez again.

Turki Alalshikh takes aim at Jake Paul after Canelo Alvarez fight fallout

In a recent interview with ESPN, Alalshikh explained why the Alvarez vs. Paul fight didn’t make sense.

“I think Canelo is too young to take this fight,” Alalshikh said. “You can have it after 30 years, when [Canelo] is 60.

‘Bravo!’… Conor McGregor applauds Canelo Alvarez for pivoting from Jake Paul fight talks

Conor McGregor weighed in on the wild Canelo Alvarez vs. Jake Paul fight fallout.

Negotiations between Canelo Alvarez, Jake Paul, and their respective teams for a potential boxing fight reached the rhetorical ‘one-yard line’ this week. But despite reports that the fight was in the last stages of negotiations, Alvarez pulled out of the Paul fight talks at the last minute, signing a new four-fight deal with Riyadh Season and Turki Alalshikh.

Alvarez’s new deal includes a super fight with Terence Crawford in September and a targeted bout against either Jermall Charlo or Bruno Surace. If Alvarez revisits the Paul fight, it appears it won’t take place until as soon as late 2026.

Paul accused Alvarez of being a ‘slave’ after their fight talks fell apart. As of this writing, Alvarez hasn’t responded to Paul’s harsh remarks, as he plots his return for Cinco de Mayo weekend.

In addition to the Alvarez fight, Paul was also briefly linked to a potential scrap with Conor McGregor. McGregor, who hasn’t fought in the UFC Octagon since 2021, was in ‘preliminary agreements’ to face Logan Paul before the UFC allegedly shut down negotiations.

McGregor, Jake, and Logan had a viral run-in during their appearances in Washington D.C. for the recent U.S. presidential inauguration. While their interactions were mostly cordial, all parties got some verbal jabs in before they went their separate ways.

After Paul’s manifested bout with Alvarez fell apart, it didn’t take long for McGregor to weigh in, courtesy of a recent Instagram comment.

Jake Paul fired back at Canelo Alvarez on Friday night, claiming that the four-division champion “ducked” a fight with him to sign a lucrative deal with Riyadh Season.

In a video posted to social media, Paul showed what he said was a contract signed by himself and Alvarez for a fight that the two sides were set to formally announce next week. Sources told ESPN’s Mike Coppinger on Thursday that Alvarez and Paul were finalizing a deal to fight May 3 in Las Vegas.

But in a stunning development, Alvarez changed course hours later Thursday and instead completed a four-fight deal with Turki Alalshikh and Riyadh S
