Canelo Alvarez will meet Michael B. Jordan in Creed III (after he’s done with GGG)

One of the biggest boxing series of the century is gearing up for a 2023 return. Filming for Creed III is underway and it ought to be as good as the first two installations.

One edge the trilogy might have over Creed I and II is casting. While Michael B. Jordan and Tessa Thompson are set for a return, there’s a real-life boxer apparently going to make a cameo, at the very least.

That boxer? Canelo Alvarez.

Jordan, who plays the lead role of Adonis Creed, revealed on Instagram a picture of himself and Alvarez with a caption that indicates Alvarez’s involvement in the upcoming film.

Speaking of trilogies, Canelo is a part of another one that comes much sooner.

On September 17th, he’ll face Gennady Golovkin in the ring for the third time. The first bout between the two resulted in a draw, and the second was a majority-decision win for Alvarez.

As we head into the third bout, Canelo opens up as a huge favorite (-650 at Tipico Spo

Canelo Alvarez tells Gennady Golovkin during final pre-fight press conference that he plans to bounce back from Dmitry Bivol loss by knocking him out in ‘greatest fight in boxing today’

Canelo Alvarez wants to get back in the win column in style with a KO victory over Gennady Golovkin on Saturday night.

GGG is set to move up to super-middleweight to challenge his bitter rival for his undisputed WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO world titles on September 17 in a trilogy bout at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Canelo and GGG will complete their trilogy on Saturday night

Back in 2017, Golovkin and Canelo shared the ring for the first time in an extremely entertaining and competitive 12-round fight that ended in a disputed draw which many felt robbed the Kazakhstani fighter of a victory.

The following year, Canelo won a narrow majority decision in their rematch but GGG has always insisted that he won both fights and now he’ll get his chance at revenge.

Since then, Canelo has won 16 fights and become the undisputed king at 168lbs but last time out he suffered a shock defeat against WBA light-heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol.

Rather than face the Russian in an immediate rematch, the 32-year-old decided to press ahead with plans for a third fight with Golovkin who he is determined to knock out after 24 rounds of boxing.

“I’m really motivated to be here. Obviously, the [Bivol] defeat hurt but we are back on the path to greatness, and I’m really delighted to be,” Canelo said in Spanish at the pre-fight press conference.

“I feel like I work better under pressure and the pressure I’ve put on myself is to finish this inside the distance of 12 rounds. I know it’s going to be difficult but nothing in life is easy.

Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez faces Israel Gonzalez as the co-main to Canelo vs. GGG 3.

The trilogy that everyone has been waiting for takes place this Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV. Undisputed super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (57-2-2) will be defending his titles against Gennadiy “GGG” Golovkin (42-1-1) in a fight that will look to settle a score years in the making. The co-main event features WBC super flyweight champion Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez (16-0) going up against the battle-tested veteran Israel Gonzalez (28-4-1).

The WBC champion Rodriguez’s year has made him one of the bright young stars of the sport who look to become household names in the future. It all started in February when he stepped into a fight with Carlos Cuadras (39-4-1) as a last-minute replacement while the fight was one weight class higher than what Rodriguez would normally compete in. Rodriguez dismantled Cuadras and gave him a boxing lesson for twelve rounds, earning him the WBC super flyweight title.

After that fight, there was a decision to be made, and after think

Canelo vs GGG 3 Preview

Four years after their rematch at this same arena, Gennady Golovkin and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez are set to do battle for the third time this weekend.

The first two fights between the pair were quite simply magnificent. The first fight was deemed a draw, with the second going the way of the Mexican. If this trilogy is anything like the first 24 rounds Canelo and ‘GGG’ shared, boxing fans are in for one hell of a treat this Saturday night in Las Vegas.

Although the first fight was deemed a draw, the general consensus is that Golovkin most definitely won that night back in 2017 and defeated the pound-for-pound king. However, the three ringside judges didn’t see it that way, with the Kazakh being left frustrated and aggravated at the result.

The second fight was even closer, and it was a fight in which you could make a case for either man winning. Canelo was given the nod on the scorecards in a fight that was nip and tuck, ebb and flow and worthy of this trilogy four years later.

It is fair to say that the boxing community are favouring the unified super-middleweight champion to defend his belts here and potentially even knock out an aging Golovki

The odds are stacked against Gennadiy Golovkin in Canelo trilogy for good reason | Opinion

Gennadiy Golovkin’s mission on Saturday is almost impossible.

Super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez, who will face Triple-G a third time on pay-per-view at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, might be more vulnerable than usual after his one-sided loss to light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol in May. His confidence had to take a hit.

And you can bet that Golovkin will be as motivated as he was going into his first two fights with Alvarez, maybe more so. At 40, this could be his last great opportunity.

Does that give him a good chance of upsetting his arch rival? Nah. Here’s why.

The eight-year difference between the fighters wasn’t an insurmountable factor when Golovkin was 35 and 36, his ages for his controversial draw and majority decision loss to Alvarez. Now it might be.

Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs) began to show signs of decline in his unanimous, but close decision in October 2019 against rugged Sergiy Derevyanchenko, who pushed the then-37-year-old to his physical limits.

He rebounded to stop second-tier opponents Kamil Szeremeta and Ryota Murata (to win two middleweight titles) in December 2020 and th
