Canelo Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 knockouts) will defend his WBA (Super), WBC, WBO, and The Ring super middleweight titles in the contest. Alvarez has a tentative fight with Terence Crawford this fall with a victory.
William Scull (23-0, 9 knockouts) will put up his IBF middleweight title in the contest.

Badou Jack vs Norair Mikaelian
PREFIGHT: Mikaelian in a white robe with black trim and matching gloves. Jack is out in a white robe with gold trim and matching gloves.
Round 1: Both men out in orthodox and Mikaelian lands a stiff jab right away. Mikaelian looks quite large compared to Jack. Neither man committing to much early, just feeling things out. Both men leaning heavily into their jabs. Jack put his to the body a couple times. Mikaelian also tests the midsection. Jack looks much quicker in there and he’s bouncy, moving around Mikaelian with ease right now. Mikaelian looks stiff. But neither man landing anything meaningful so far. Jack doing almost nothing offensive down the stretch so I guess Mikaelian takes the opening round.

Round 2: Mikaelian back to the jab, high and low. He’s not the most dynamic boxer but he’s going to work technically. Jack starting to jab back. Jack puts a pair of hooks to the body when they get in close. Jack a little more active right now as he circles in the center of the ring. He’s clearly so much quicker with his feet than Mikaelian, despite being 41. Sneaky right hand from Jack as Mikaelian now looking to counter. And Mikaelian lands a good right hand! Jack is fine but the counter came in clean and is the best punch of the fight so far.

Round 3: Mikaelian with a nice right hand to kick this round off. And he gets Jack against the ropes for a minute and unleashes a flurry of body shots. Mikaelian opening up his offense now. Jack coming forward more now and lands to the body. Mikaelian fires back. Both men picking up their pace as they settle into this fight. Jack with a big right hand over the top that gets Mikaelian to clinch. Mikaelian tries to get it back before the end of the round but can’t.

Round 4: Both men settling in. Jabs still the primary weapons but more power shots are flowing now. Mikaelian with a nice right hand over the top. Lands a body shot into a right hand as they get in close. Mikaelian punching in combination and landing much more now. Jack’s offense fell off here as Mikaelian locks in. Jack loops a big right hand. Exchange of punches. Jack’s footwork has fallen off and Mikaelian is now finding the mark much more. Jack digging into the body.

Round 5: Mikaelian works the body again. Jack coming forward now, changing the energy. Jack needs to dig himself back into this because Mikaelian throwing in combination constantly now. Jack getting out-worked now. Mikaelian throwing freely and Jack returning one or two at most. Jack lands a left. Then a big right. His best punch in a minute. NICE right hand from Jack. And another. Real offense from Jack now which he desperately needed. Mikaelian looks a little uncomfortable in there after that.

Round 6: Mikaelian comes out firing. Digging in after a bad finish to the last round. But Jack triples up the right hand and big shot gets Mikaelian’s attention. He’s still much faster when he commits. And Mikaelian looking a little more wary right now. And Jack walks Mikaelian into another short snappy right hand. Mikaelian getting touched up a little bit but he keeps throwing back. Both men dig the body.
