The long-awaited fight between Canelo Alvarez and John Ryder is finally at hand today as the duo is all set to face one another in the ring. The fight is taking place in Guadalajara, Mexico and the stadium is set to have enough capacity to welcome 50,000 spectators. The first fight of the main card between Oleksandr Gvozdyk and Ricards Bolotniks ended, leaving Bolotnik on his knees as the referee intervened to stop the fight.

Gvozdyk took a different approach to this fight that even left the boxing commentators confused. For the first five rounds of the match, he appeared out of his element. However, it seemed like a switch turned on as the sixth round began. Gvozdyk started to pick up and land power shots. He soon brought the Latvian fighter to his knees with a nasty cut above his brow. Bolotniks was able to stand up before the counts ended, but referee Celestino Ruiz stopped the fight and sealed the result of Gvozdyk’s victory via TKO.

Even though during the opening rounds Gvozdyk threw ineffective punches, Bolotniks was able to land some effective shots. Fans were unable to suppress their excitement and took to Twitter to share their responses to the fight.
