PREFIGHT: This has been quite the weekend of boxing. First the Times Square Fatal Fury on Friday night and now this. The fights have been better tonight than yesterday and we’ve only got one left. It’s time for Canelo Alvarez.

Canelo in white and blue, with matching gloves.

Oh and Bud Crawford is here in attendance. They got to him for a brief interview where he reiterates that he wants a fight against Canelo and calls it “the biggest fight in the last decade.”

Michael Buffer in the ring now and it’s time for the walks. There’s a brief light show and then Scull hits the arena. He’s draped in the Cuban flag and wearing the biggest smile you’ve ever seen.

Now Canelo is up. He’s in the aforementioned blue and white and accompanied by his musical act. Man looks completely unbothered. It’s almost time.

I lied. I forgot we’ve gotta do anthems and all the announcements. But that shouldn’t take too long. Buffer incorrectly says the German national anthem is coming up, but it’s the Cuban one for Scull. And then Latin Grammy winner Majo Aguilar sings the Mexican national anthem.

Buffer finally gets to the announcements and Scull even gets some applause from the crowd. Obviously, Canelo gets more, but that’s to be expected. And NOW it’s go time!

Round 1: Both men out in orthodox. Scull looks much bigger in there and he starts with a sharp jab. Canelo, historically, takes the first few rounds off as he figures out timing and tendencies. Canelo cutting the ring early and pops a right hand over the guard. Scull moving laterally as Canelo keeps cutting the ring. Cull comes forward with his own right hand but comes up short. Canelo easily advancing without even punching. He’s just staying in range for the power and he’s closing Scull down with relative ease. Scull moving and shooting a jab in, then moving again. Very little action in this first round.

MMA Fighting scores the round 10-10 overall.

Round 2: So little offense happened that round, I’m comfortable calling it a 10-10. Canelo threw like four punches and Scull didn’t do much better.

Canelo right back on the march as Scull gets retreating to the ropes and then shifting off. Scull waiting to counter but Canelo hasn’t given him anything to counter yet. Nice right hook to the body from Canelo, finishes with a left up top that was blocked. Canelo with a body shot then a looping right hand that connected. Canelo’s power showing through there as Scull had to scoot away. Canelo so patient as he marches Scull down. Scull shooting the jab now but not landing. This is untenable for Scull. Canelo is freely walking him down and Scull isn’t even winning cleanly at range. Canelo with combo to th

Canelo open to Eubank Jr clash: ‘I want to fight in UK’

Canelo open to Eubank Jr clash: ‘I want to fight in UK’

Canelo Alvarez wants to add Chris Eubank Jr to his list of British scalps, and would be willing to come to the UK to do so.

Turki Alalshikh told Sky Sports in February that the winner of Eubank Jr against Conor Benn would be in line to secure a shot at Canelo in 2026.

Eubank won Saturday’s Tottenham showdown by unanimous decision to keep that dream alive, though is contracted to face Benn in a rematch later this year.

Canelo is meanwhile gearing up to face William Scull in Saudi Arabia this weekend, but has opened the door to a meeting with Eubank.

“I have beaten eight Brits so far?” Canelo said in an interview with The Ring Magazine. “Well it’s going to be nine then.

“I want to fight in the UK and I promise I will do it. I don’t know exactly where yet but I am going to do it.

“Would people like to see me against Chris Eubank Jr? Maybe that’s the fight. That’s a fight I’d consider but we don’t know what is going to happen.”

Canelo is meanwhile reportedly set to face undefeated pound-for-pound great Terence Crawford in Las Vegas in September in what is set to be one of the biggest fights in modern boxing history.

The Mexican last fought a British opponent in 2023 when he beat John Ryder by unanimous decision, having also previously overcome Billy Joe Saunders, Callum Smith, Rocky Fielding, Liam Smith, Amir Khan, Ryan Rhodes and Matthew Hatton.

The Sky Sports Boxing team reacted to Chris Eubank Sr making a stunning surprise appearance, as he arrived with his son at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and they made an emotional ringwalk together

“We will see what will happen but I think the fight between me and Eubank is big, no?” Canelo added.

“I think doing big fights is all I want. I want to enjoy everything I do now. I’ve accomplished everything in boxing. Maybe I could beat more world champions but I want to be in more big fights and big events.”

Speaking exclusively to Sky Sports for the first time since his win over Benn, Eubank insisted “watch this space”

Jake Paul remains confident he would’ve beaten Canelo Alvarez had they fought: “He’s just washed up”

Jake Paul believes he would have beaten Canelo Alvarez had they fought.

Jake Paul Canelo Alvarez

Paul and Alvarez were linked to a fight on May 5, but the bout fell apart at the last second. The Mexican went on to fight William Scull while Paul will box Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in June.

Had the fight happened, Jake Paul would have been a big underdog, but he remains confident he would have beaten Canelo Alvarez, as he claims the Mexican is washed.

“I would have beaten Canelo, for sure. Even just watching him against Scull. He’s just washed up, inactive, doesn’t throw a

Matt Brown fires back at complaints that Belal Muhammad had a terrible game plan against Jack Della Maddalena

Matt Brown fires back at complaints that Belal Muhammad had a terrible game plan against Jack Della Maddalena

Belal Muhammad has faced growing criticism about the game plan and strategy he used in a loss to Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 315 that cost him the welterweight title.

In the days and weeks leading up to the event, Muhammad repeatedly stated he wanted to show off his “Canelo hands” and prove his boxing could go up against anybody — including a known knockout artist like Della Maddalena. During his rise up the ranks, Muhammad displayed incredible wrestling and constant pressure that allowed him to largely maul his competition. Despite going for nine takedowns during the fight, he’s being slammed for the way he approached the matchup against the Australian slugger.

UFC legend Matt Brown vehemently disagrees with the notion that Muhammad’s loss really comes down to poor game planning because that totally negates what Della Maddalena did to shut him down.

“It’s almost an irrelevant question because it didn’t matter what his game plan was,” Brown explained on the latest episode of The Fighter vs. The Writer. “Jack had an answer for everything that he did.

“Yeah, if you’re on Belal’s camp, you’re probably looking back saying OK, we probably could have game planned differently but it’s hard to imagine that would have changed anything. When you go back to the drawing board for Belal, you’ve got a lot of drawing to do when you’re looking at a Jack Della Maddalena fight.”

Because the fight largely played out on the feet, Della Maddalena was able to win many of the biggest exchanges with his superior boxing, length and power. While Muh

New TKO boxing league reveals schedule plans plus separate ‘superfights’ starting with Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford

New TKO boxing league reveals schedule plans plus separate ‘superfights’ starting with Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford

The new boxing promotion, headed up by the UFC’s owners at TKO Group Holdings, has ambitious plans for the future with the first card set to launch in September when Canelo Alvarez takes on Terence Crawford in a superfight taking place in Las Vegas.

UFC CEO Dana White has already been announced as the promoter for the event with WWE president Nick Khan also involved in the newly formed boxing league, which is financially backed by Saudi Arabia and Turki Alalshikh, the chairman of the General Entertainment Authority in the country. While some details have been revealed since the boxing promotion was first announced, the new league has ambitious plans when it comes to the full schedule that kicks off with the card on Sept. 12.

“I would just tell you that we’re expecting with the boxing organization that we’re putting on an average of call it 12 fights a year, 12 cards a year for each of the next five years,” TKO president and chief operating officer Mark Shapiro said during a quarterly financial cal

William Scull angers fans with post-fight comments following Canelo Alvarez bout

William Scull angers fans with post-fight comments following Canelo Alvarez bout

William Scull has turned some heads, not just with the lack of action in his undisputed super middleweight title fight with Canelo Alvarez, but with his post-fight comments.

Canelo Alvarez vs. William Scull

Scull was the IBF titleholder going into his clash with Alvarez this past Saturday. Many didn’t know what to expect from the matchup other than a likely win for Alvarez, but fans were left feeling their low expectations weren’t even met. Alvarez vs. Scull lacked significant action for 12 rounds, and Alvarez won the fight via unanimous decision.

While the bout itself left a lot to be desired, it was Scull’s comments after the fight that left fans scratching their heads.
