MMA Fighting has Canelo Alvarez vs. Edgar Berlanga live round-by-round updates for one of the most anticipated boxing fights of the year at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev., on Saturday night.

Canelo Alvarez (61-2-2) has won four straight fights and competes for the second time this year. He defeated Jaime Munguia via unanimous decision this past May.

Edgar Berlanga (22-0) knocked out Padraig McCrory in the sixth round this past February in his only appearance of 2024. His previous five fights before McCrory were all decision wins.

This Saturday, Berlanga challenges Canelo Alvarez for the WBC, WBA, WBO, and Ring Magazine super middleweight title. It’s the biggest fight of Berlanga’s career but his placement in the fight also caused considerable backlash as fans and pundits view the 22-0 boxer beneath Alvarez, who is one of the top-ranked pound-for-pound fighters in the sport.

Among those critics is De La Hoya, who announced this week he is attending UFC 306 at Sphere instead of the boxing match. So on Wednesday during their final pre-fight press conference, Berlanga had some choice words

Just a few days out from his big fight against Edgar Berlanga at the T-Mobile Arena, Canelo Alvarez has admitted that he would be open to a monumental boxing super fight against Conor McGregor.

Ahead of what is a big fight for Canelo Alvarez on Mexcian Independence Day weekend, the main talking point is that his event is going head to head with the monumental UFC 306 event at the Sphere.

Despite that, Canelo, Matchroom, and the UFC are all confident that both events can perform well alongside each other.

The huge UFC 306 event is headlined by arguably the UFC’s biggest current active star, Sean O’Malley, who believes the UFC event will largely outperform Canelo’s boxing event.

Someone who did put his name in the hat to headline the once-in-a-lifetime event at the Sphere was Conor McGregor. After his fight against Michael Chandler was canceled this past June, both fighters called for it to be re-booked to take place in the Sphere.

UFC CEO, Dana White, opted against that option though, and recently revealed that the McGregor will not return to action until early 2025.

The super middleweight champion defends his WBA, WBC, and WBO titles against Edgar Berlanga this Saturday, but that hasn’t stopped reporters from asking him what he has lined up for his next fight. Boxing reporter Manouk Akopyan asked Alvarez if he’d ever be interested in fighting UFC star Conor McGregor, which Alvarez found amusing.

“I know, and then we show boxing is better,” Alvarez said, before adding, “Easy, easy, way easy money.”

McGregor, who previously held UFC titles at 145 and 155 pounds, has participated in only one pro boxing bout, a high-profile contest that saw him go

Canelo Alvarez was left in stitches after a vulgar comment from a fan at the ‘Grand Arrivals’ for his upcoming clash with Edgar Berlanga.

The Mexican superstar was in spiteful mood four days out from fight night as he told assembled media that he was planning to make Berlanga pay for his trash talk by ‘breaking his face’.

“I like them like that. I like them to be confident and do a lot of talking,” he said.

“[And] I like breaking their face when they play like that.

“I’m eagerly awaiting that day. It’ll be the beatdown of his life.

“No chance [he wins]. The experience I have, the intelligence, my boxing ability, I’ve already won.”

Despite being in fight mode, Canelo couldn’t help but crack a smile when he heard of one fan’s crude request at the ‘Grand Arrivals’.

A member of Canelo’s adoring crowd told PBC presenter Kinsey Wolanski ahead of his idol’s entrance that he wanted the Mexican superstar to impregnate his wife.

When Wolanski relayed the message to Canelo he burst out laughing.

Two rivals will sit closer to each other when they watch the action up close at Noche UFC. Dana White will welcome Oscar De La Hoya with a forced smile, as the latter will enter the coveted Las Vegas Sphere instead of joining his fraternity at the Canelo Alvarez vs. Edgar Berlanga bill. The combat sports community is aware of the deep strife between the two promoters and is still wondering how that will happen. It seems the UFC CEO has laid bare the genius play of his boxing counterpart.

De La Hoya recently specified his intentions to skip the Alvarez vs. Berlanga card, as he labeled the event “robbery.” Instead, the former Olympic Gold medalist expressed his desire to watch Noche UFC a few streets away on the same block. But that seemed far-fetched reality until he dialed up his ally, HE Turki Alalshikh.

Interestingly, Riyadh Season is the title sponsor of Noche UFC, and as a result, the Saudi adviser has his own separate ticket block. De La Hoya is part of the same ticket block and will have access to the near-cage seats. White, 55, shed light on the situation when he appeared at the Contender Series 71 press conference.

The UFC lynchpin said, “Well, I got that call today. He’s coming with Sheikh Turki. He is part of his ticket block. I knew he wasn’t part of my ticket block. That’s for damn sure. Oscar does things that are good for Oscar at the moment.”

While White then discussed Alvarez, 34, and Al Haymon’s decision to host the event on the same date, he was respectful towards both. He blamed MGM for the clash of dates. But now it seems he might have another tough task, to accommodate De La Hoya, the same man whom he tried to “bury.”

It all started with De La Hoya’s intention to venture into the MMA. The boxer-turned-promoter even hosted the trilogy fight between the two MMA greats, Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz, in 2018 as his first fight. However, because of their age and health concerns, he received scathing criticism, with White also ripping him apart. But De La Hoya saw it differently.

He told Shannon Sharpe, “When I first thought about getting into MMA, I strongly felt that he [Dana White] just wanted to bury me, not have competition. He started talking s–t about me.” The two have been at loggerheads since, with all talks of becoming friends tossed to the bin. It remains to be seen how the encounter at Noche UFC affects their animosity.

According to ‘cibercuba.com’, by 2020, Erislandy Lara was in a relationship with Karen Álvarez. Though originally from Cuba’s second-largest city, Santiago de Cuba, it seems she had settled down in Miami, Florida.

Though not much is known about her background or career, the couple has been featured in some of Lara’s Instagram posts, offering a glimpse into their life together.

He has expressed a deep desire to reunite with them, stating, “It hurts every day. Communications are a little better now, and we have better contact. But the biggest dream I have is for us to all be together. It would mean the world just to see my boys, watch, then play sports, go to their school.”
